White Denim | Shake, Shake, Shake [MUSIC VIDEO]

Directed by Tom Haines

Just heard about these guys five minutes ago courtesy of Jules. Cool video. I love slow motion and grit, and fat birds.

School of Seven Bells [VISUALS]

[click below to watch]

Directed by Tim Saccenti

This is a segment from Tim's visual collaboration with SVIIB. The whole piece is almost an hour long. I'd love to see it in it's entirety.

Skittles "Touch" [ADVERT]

Directed by Tom Kuntz

He's definitely one of the most creative advertisement directors working in the industry at the moment. Most of his work is amazing apart from that crap 'Eyebrow' Dairy Milk ad.

Chairlift | Bruises [MUSIC VIDEO]

Directed by Tim Saccenti

This is Tim's latest video for Chairlift.

We Were Promised Jetpacks | Roll Up Your Sleeves [MUSIC VIDEO]

Directed by Blair Young

Nice gritty layer animation type of performance video. Nothing too original, but I like the blue and red "3-D glasses" type plug-in effect, and the harsh rotating triangles. Not a fan of the song though.

Black Dice | Kokomo [MUSIC VIDEO]

Directed by Black Dice

Amazing track, and absolutely mind blowing video. It's nothing but idyllic. It matches Black Dice's sound wonderfully.

Peter Gabriel | Sledgehammer [MUSIC VIDEO]

Directed by Stephen R. Johnson

This is a classic which has been voted best music video ever on numerous polls. It certainly was innovative and created a new form of music video.

Animal Collective | Peacebone [MUSIC VIDEO]

Directed by Tim Saccenti

Another great video by Tim.

Yeasayer | Wait For The Summer [We Are Free] [MUSIC VIDEO]

Directed by Mixtape Club

This is a different version than the one found on All Hour Cymbals, but it's still pretty good. The video is a nice after effects layer type animation. I especially like the masked singing performance and animation of the band.

No Age | Eraser [MUSIC VIDEO]

Directed by Andy Bruntel

Really like the colour and the distorted morphing effect in this one. Also, the build ups and anti climaxes before the song kicks in is a nice touch.

Battles | Atlas [MUSIC VIDEO]

Directed by Tim Saccenti

Probably one of my favourite performance videos. Simple, effective, idyllic and beautifully shot. Just the way they should be.

Grizzly Bear | Knife [MUSIC VIDEO]

Directed by Isaiah Saxon and Sean Hellfritsch (Encyclopedia Pictura)

This is definitely one of my favourite videos. It's visually stunning and incredible use of location. Encyclopedia Pictura really have some of the most creative art direction I've ever seen.

Board of Canada | Dayvan Cowboy [MUSIC VIDEO]

Directed by Melissa Olson

John, Gar, Connor and Mark's EXHIBITION AT FILMBASE

This happened weeks ago, and John has since ventured to the other side of the planet, but I'll post it anyway. It consisted of four types of interactive media set ups (I don't know the technical terms). It's a very impressive end of year degree showcase which led to FILMBASE offering them future exhibitions.

Fever Ray | If I Had A Heart [MUSIC VIDEO]

Directed by Andreas Nilsson

I hadn't listened to her much before, but this track is fantastic! The video suits it so well. I just love slow paced, dark, equivocal videos. As long as it suits the music that is.

Matt and Kim | Lessons Learned [MUSIC VIDEO]

Directed by Taylor Cohen and Otto Arsenault.

Not too crazy about the song, but the video is a brave one. They must have been freezing.

Altoids Sours Challenge [ADVERT]

Directed by Tom Kuntz

Probably one of the funniest and most bizarre TV ads ever made. Tom Kuntz is incredible. Although, he did make the Dairy Milk eyebrow advert, which I absolutely hate.

Grizzly Bear | Two Weeks [MUSIC VIDEO]

Directed by Patrick Daughters

A very nice, simple video, yet still very original. Patrick Daughters seems to be able to create such minimal concepts and make something visually stunning out of them. I wonder what his treatment for this video was like. He probably didn't even have to make one. He was probably like, "Here's we'll just after effects the shit out of your eyes and face so you look like children."

Chemical Brothers | Let Forever Be [MUSIC VIDEO]

.
Directed by Michel Gondry.

Why not start things off with the music video that made me want to direct videos. We've all seen it before, but I thought I would post anyway. As a kid I'd watch this video and be dumbfounded at how Michel Gondry even thought of the concept.

VISUAL SWIM

A selection of of creative videos that I find interesting. Mainly music videos, advertisements, video art, multimedia etc. No people falling off chairs, or dancing dogs dressed as humans.

Thanks
